Football Manager 2016 Announced

September 7th, 2015 by

FM16 001SEGA Europe Ltd. and Sports Interactive are proud to present football fans across the world with an opportunity to lead their favourite team to glory with the latest release in the multi-million selling, international smash hit Football Manager™ series. Due for release from mid-November, Football Manager 2016 will comprise a suite of simulations, designed to provide the perfect football management experience for the widest possible audience.

In addition to Football Manager 2016, the newly-assembled squad also includes Football Manager Touch (for both computer and high-end tablets) and Football Manager Mobile (for all iOS and Android devices).

FM16 002

Previously known as Football Manager Classic, Football Manager Touch has, until now, been available as a ‘quick play’ mode within the full simulation (and for high-end tablets since March). Now, for the first time, it will be available separately through Steam, as well as for high-end tablets. Football Manager Mobile was formerly known as Football Manager Handheld.

“For some time now it’s been clear to us that there is no ‘one size fits all’ football management experience,” says Sports Interactive gaffer Miles Jacobson. “While a huge number of our fans have the time and dedication required to devote themselves to the ‘full’ simulation, there’s an equally-large number who prefer a more streamlined option. Not only that, but the widespread availability of mobile devices means that people are playing in different ways. The introduction of Football Manager Touch as a standalone offering – playable across computer and tablet – means that we now offer something for everyone.”

Fans who pre-purchase Football Manager 2016  from a participating digital retailer will be rewarded with a download key for ‘An Alternative Reality: the Football Manager Documentary’. In addition, they will also enjoy access to a fully-playable Beta version of the game, which will be available roughly two weeks prior to the official release date. Careers started in this Beta version will continue in the full game.

Fans who pre-order a boxed copy from a participating retailer will be rewarded with a limited edition version of Football Manager 2016 which will include ‘An Alternative Reality: the Football Manager Documentary’.

KEY FEATURES FOR THIS SEASON’S LINE-UP

Football Manager 2016

New Game Mode – Create-A-Club

For the first time, Football Manager 2016 allows fans to add their own custom-built club to any league they choose, through the single player ‘Create-a-club’ mode. Create-A-Club allows you to name the club, add yourself and a friend to the line-up, edit the squad to your heart’s content and even choose the colours.

New Game Mode – Fantasy Draft

Create your dream team and take on your mates in ‘Fantasy Draft’ mode. Starting with a fixed budget, each manager builds a squad from scratch, competing with other managers to sign the best talent before going head-to-head against one another in a mini-league.

Manager on the Touchline

Get closer to the action than ever before with your own customisable character to bark out instructions and join the celebrations from the touchline.

Improved Matchday Experience

More than 2,000 new animations, alongside lots of other graphical improvements and improved AI, make the Football Manager 2016 match view the best ever.

Multi match highlights

A highlights package available to easily view other fixtures after each round in your own competition (or others) to keep you up-to-date with everything that’s going on in the world around you.

Prozone Match Analysis

Sports Interactive’s partnership with the leading sports statistics provider, Prozone, has seen a wide-reaching revamp of the in-game match analysis tool, adding lots of useful functionality whilst also making it a lot more prominent and easier to use.

Set-Piece Creator

Football Manager 2016’s powerful, yet easy-to-use set piece creator allows managers to set up multiple set piece routines to be used across multiple tactics; with different set pieces for each set piece taker, new zonal marking options and much, much more.

More Realistic Injuries

Sports Interactive has worked alongside a number of physiotherapists, doctors and related organisations to ensure that the depiction and treatment of injuries in Football Manager 2016 is more realistic than ever before. This doesn’t mean that fewer injuries will be sustained, but that those which do occur will be treated and develop more realistically. Injuries will now be determined during matches, while new injury types have been added and there is now a tangible distinction between player condition and match sharpness.

Expanded Press Interaction

Press conferences are more varied than ever before, with many new conversations to be had with the press, especially more contextual questions & responses. In addition, unemployed managers can now use media interviews to help get them back into the game.

Stats, Stats, Stats

Managers now have access to more detailed statistical information than ever before, with the introduction of a revamped stats screen and an all-new rolling stats panel.

New and Improved Screens

Information is now easier to find as a result of a revamp to many of the main screens, including player overview, tactics, the manager’s home screen and the transfer offer screen.

And Much, Much More

Further additions and updates include staff shortlisting, improved manager and staff movement, revised board requests, a revamp of board confidence, more contextual team talks, fully updated competition rules & squad information, an improved financial module, improved AI transfers and team selection, new social media features and many more – all of which combine to make Football Manager 2016 the most complete and immersive simulation of football management ever.

Football Manager Touch 2016

Cross-Save

All versions of Football Manager Touch 2016 are ‘cross-save compatible’ with one another, so a career started on a tablet can be saved to the cloud and continued on computer (and vice versa).**

Matchday Experience

Football Manager Touch 2016 offers enhanced tactical options, including set-piece planning and opposition instructions – all of which play out in the acclaimed Football Manager 3D match engine.

Create-A-Club Mode

Add your own club to the game using the ‘Create-A-Club’ option. Name your club, choose your colours and edit your squad to your heart’s content – even adding yourself and friends.

Match Analysis

For the first time, Prozone match analysis comes to Football Manager Touch 2016, allowing managers to fully analyse either their full team or individual players after the final whistle.

New Unlockables

Brand new unlockables reward you for progress in your career; ‘All Job Applications Accepted’ helps you get your foot in the door at a new club, while ‘Design a Son’ allows you to fully customise your own in-game offspring who will come through into your squad.

Opposition Instructions

Prepare your team for the match ahead by setting opposition instructions which tell your players how to treat certain members of the opposing team to limit their performance as much as possible.

Improved Screens

Football Manager Touch 2016 features a more intuitive virtual manager’s office, with redesigns to many key screens including manager home, transfer, contract, player and tactics screens.

And Much, Much More

Including fully updated player and squad details across the database of more than 600,000 players and staff and lots more new features and improvements to be announced in the coming weeks.

*A comprehensive list of compatible tablet devices will be published prior to launch

**Requires separate purchases of different game versions

Football Manager Mobile 2016

Enhanced Tactics

Take greater control of your squad with the introduction of new tactical instructions. You can choose where your team concentrates its passing, as well as selecting your main attacking threat and creative outlet – and even advise your goalkeeper on distribution.

Coaching Staff

Prepare your squad for match days better than ever before with the addition of coaches, providing your team with focused training to prepare for their next big fixture.

Management Style

The introduction of gold, silver and bronze coaching badges allows you to define your own management style. Will you concentrate on improving your defence or attack, or focus on morale and man management? Your decision will influence your team’s style.

Improved Screens

Redesigns to key screens makes Football Manager Mobile 2016 more intuitive than ever, while the improved news screen makes it easier than ever to take in all the information you need.

Player Loans

Develop newly-signed younger players by loaning them back to their previous club so that they can continue to gain first team experience.

First Window Transfer Parity

Managers who want to start a new career with largely unchanged squads across their entire game world can choose to enable the ‘no budgets in first transfer window’ option, allowing only free transfers to take place.

Football Manager 2016 will be released on Friday, November 13th, with Football Manager Touch and Football Manager Mobile following prior to Xmas 2015. All three are developed by Sports Interactive and published by SEGA Europe Ltd.
