Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Nemesis System

January 28th, 2014 by

Middle Earth Shadow of MordorMiddle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is an upcoming open world RPG set in the world of the Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit universe. But what stands out most about this upcoming title is not it’s fabled setting, but the all new impressive Nemesis system.

The Nemesis system is a unique new adaptation of AI. Each enemy you encounter in the game will have a unique personality. With this comes specific strengths and weaknesses as well as the ability to remember your own playing style, making each battle more tactical, like a game of chess, rather than a mind-numbing skirmish.

The Nemesis system also allows the AI to react and adapt to any player choices in the game. This should add much more value to a replay through as well as offering a very unique and individual story experience.

The Nemesis system will also allow players to have more choice over what happens to enemies they’ve overcome. In the trailer below you can see the player offered the chance to turn ‘Ratbag the Meat Horder’ into a spy, an assassin, spread the word of terror or simply sacrifice him.

Does this mean the end of predictable stale AI? Find out later in 2014 when Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor gets it release.
