Eurogamer Expo 2013 – The Midlife Gamer Meet Ups

September 11th, 2013 by

MLGX 200x200It’s the Eurogamer Expo 2013 from 26th to 29th of September at Earls Court in London.
This will the fourth year running that Midlife Gamer have held a number of official meet ups over the weekend for the community and we’d love to see you there. Gaming guys and gals travelling from afar to get together at our annual pilgrimage of gaming, friendship and drinking.
Please visit the Official thread on the forums for a list of attendees and to get yourself added to the list!

The Official Midlife Gamer Liquid Lunch Meet Ups.
Friday 27th and Saturday 28th September
1230hrs to 1400hrs
Prince of Wales Pub : SW6 1TU
See below for directions.
We have a private area for everyone to get together, enjoy a few drinks and tuck into some of their tasty grub. Sarah and her staff have been looking after us for the past few years so you can be sure of a warm welcome. Just come on over to the crowd in the lower area and say hello. Look out for the bunting!
Don’t worry about getting there for 2 o’clock in the afternoon…if its anything like years gone before, there will always be a Midlife Gamer there from opening time to closing time!

The Official Midlife Gamer After Show Party.
Saturday 28th September
Rileys Sports Bar, Victoria
1830hrs till 0000hrs
Saturday night at the Eurogamer Expo will be an evening of fun, frolics and entertainment with everyone from Midlife Gamer. Rileys Sports Bar are very kindly letting have their venue for FREE on the night and we think the extra effort to get there is worth it. Its just a couple of stops on the Underground from Earls Court (details below). Pete and his expert team will be manning the bar all evening and wandering round serving shots to those brave enough. Food will be available for you to order during the evening (at very reasonable prices), so don’t fret if you skip lunch.
Rileys Sports Bar post code is: SW1W 9QJ
If travelling from Earls Court, head to the EARLS COURT Underground station (directly opposite the Earls Court Expo) and take the DISTRICT line to SLOAN SQUARE. Its just a couple of stops. Alternatively, Victoria Station is just round the corner too.

Its all about meeting up, having some fun together and hopefully raising a few pennies for GamesAid.

Sexy Pub Quiz
1930Hrs – 2030Hrs
Just like the podcast, we are going to be holding a very special Sexy Pub Quiz for everyone to join in with…you’ll be battling it out with Matt & Daren this year!
20 Questions (five of which will be audio related) and 10 picture quiz questions. Answer papers and pens will be provided.
We’re looking for teams of gamers (no more than 6 in a team if you can help it) each person in the quiz sticks a quid in the pot – all goes to GamesAid. We’ll figure out a prize for the winning team.

(In the event of a draw, there will be a tie-breaker question…or a game of darts!)

Now, we know we’re all saving up for those next gen consoles coming later this year, but as part of the weekend we, as always, would like to raise a few pennies for our friends at GamesAid. They are a fantastic video games industry charity which distribute funds to small UK based charities that deal with children and young adults facing difficult times in their lives.
We’ve teamed up with a plethora of games companies who have donated some great gaming goodies for a raffle, which we hope you’ll buy a few tickets for (£1 each on the night).
We will also have some INCREDIBLE prizes that will AUCTIONED during the evening, including a custom GameBoy from b33fkr10z and a number or pieces from our favourite artist in residence EpicToneDogg.
**A Just Giving website will be set up to take donations for auctioned items on the night**
**We must insist that successful bidders for auction items make their donation on the night**

    Highlight of the year.

  2. Just a quick one from me…. don’t worry so much if you’ve not got yourself into a team for the quiz prior to the night – so many people are in the same boat and tend to throw themselves into the closest group who need additional members….. no one left behind people…. just get working on some quality team names :)

  3. The amount of excitement giz coursing through my veins is unbelievable.. This year is going to be the best yet (mainly as I will be in full attendance).
