Midlife Gamer raise £4,874 for Charity Through Pile of Win and Eurogamer Expo After-Party

October 1st, 2012 by

On Saturday 29th September, Midlife Gamer (www.midlifegamer.net) held their Eurogamer Expo after-party, inviting the Midlife Gamer community, other gaming publications, game publishers, developers and PR, as well as game enthusiasts at large, from all corners of the UK and beyond, to enjoy a magnificent night of celebration, socialising and charitable giving. In fact ‘magnificent’ doesn’t do it justice. Last year’s incredible total of £2000 raised has been more than doubled this year, totalling £4,874 and change (including Gift Aid) thanks to the after-party and the Midlife Gamer Pile of Win charity drive (http://www.midlifegamer.net/features/2012/08/midlife-gamer-pile-of-win.html). All money is going to GamesAid, a video games industry charity that supports smaller UK based charities with particular focus on helping children and young adults through incredibly difficult and emotional times, giving them hope and inspiration.

The Midlife Gamer raffle and auction saw prize contributions from the wonderful community and hugely generous PR companies, developers and publishers. Midlife Gamer community member and spectacular artist, Tony Hodgkinson (www.redbubble.com/people/anticus50), once again painting a collection of very special, one off portraits of popular game protagonists Isaac Clark from Dead Space, Ezio from the Assassin’s Creed series and the Dovahkiin from Skyrim, reaching a total of £580 in the auction for all three.

Games, figurines, and signed, collectable merchandise all filled the prize table and encouraged everyone to give what they could to this great charity as well as proving the overwhelming heart and generosity of the videogame community.

Better yet, the current total is still growing with additional donations still coming in via the Just Giving page.

None of this could have been possible without the support from the following people and companies:

Indigo Pearl

Lunch PR

Charles Cecil

Insert Coin Clothing

Cyber Candy

Gaya Entertainment

Lygo International & Turtle Beach

Ubisoft UK

LanOps

Lionhead Studios

Rail Simulator
