Play Expo Event 13th/14th of October

September 14th, 2012 by

On the 13th and 14th of October, Play Expo will be hosing the re.play event in Manchester – the UK’s biggest ever retro expo. With them aiming for 300 consoles, computers and handhelds, as well as 150 classic pinball and arcade machines – all set to free play, this event is shaping up to be a truly unique and thoroughly entertaining weekend. Add to that a load of prize tournaments, special guests, an exclusive preview of upcoming videogames documentary ‘from bedrooms to billions’ and industry talks from legends such as Bitmap Brothers MD Mike Montgomery or Reflections founder Martin Edmondson and that should give you a little idea of what the show will entail.

But also bear in mind that the re.play area is just one quarter of Play Expo! The entire show is dedicated to every facet of video gaming and has three other zones. cos.play area is dedicated to Cosplay, Anime, DDR and Jap culture. pro.play is a huge eSports tournament area run by Europe’s biggest eSport provider, EGL, which will feature live streaming of some of the world’s best gaming teams competing on the latest titles. Finally the now.play zone is the current gen area featuring previews of Christmas releases from Konami, Namco, Nintendo, EA and more publishers yet to be confirmed. You will even get a chance to get hands on with the Wii U.

They are even hosting one of the qualifiers for the European Tekken Tag Tournament 2 championships as part of now.play and will have a FIFA 2013 tournament on the Sunday too. More dev talks will be hosted including Sumo Digital’s Steve Lycet talking about working on the latest Sonic All-Star Racers game. Scattered amongst all this will be retailers of games, apparel, figures and collectables, a number of fringe events on the Saturday night and a few other features yet to be revealed.

Northern Lights Pinball are back! As part of Play Expo on the 13th and 14th October, Northern Lights will be bringing pinball to the masses in style. 75 different pinball tables will be on display at the show throughout the weekend and every one will be set to free play.

You can experience all this for £13.20 for tickets for the whole weekend or £8.80 for a single day.
