Australia Finally Ends Ban on 18 Rated Games

June 19th, 2012 by

Finally after over ten years of debate, and many false starts, The Australian senate and house of representatives have allowed a new bill allowing 18 rated games to be sold in the territory for the first time.

The bill submitted in February, has been passed without amendment and now games will be rated in line with movies and TV shows. It also allows publishers to now release games such as The Witcher 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Mortal Kombat, that were previously banned.

Australian Home Affairs minister Jason Clare said “these are important reforms over 10 years in the making”
