Are THQ Looking for Buyers After Cancelling Their 2014 Line-up?

January 16th, 2012 by

A rumour is doing the rounds at the moment that indicates that publisher THQ is in dire straits after cancelling its entire games line-up for 2014 and offering itself up for sale to Asian firms.

The publisher behind such games as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and the ill-fated Homefront, is rumoured to have dropped its portfolio for 2014, which includes an MMO that was being developed at The Game Workshops. Claims have also been made that the company has offered itself for sale.

A forum thread on NeoGAF lists a series of tweets from Kevin Dent from the International Game Developers Association (IGDA). They state that THQ has “cancelled all of their 2014“, “are offering themselves to Asian firms to increase value“, and “has returned IP to Disney after paying the advance, with no refund.”

It’s all speculation at the moment, much like our recent rumour news post on the next generation of console coming soon, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted once official word comes out.
