Behold The Swarm

September 11th, 2010 by

Undoubtedly now one of my most anticipated titles of 2011 for reasons I don’t quite know yet, UTV Ignition Entertainment and Hothead Games‘ recent trailer releases and screenshots for their delightfully brutal platformer Swarm look magnificent.

Drawing comparisons to the likes of Lemmings, Swarm is set to launch worldwide via digital channels in early 2011, in which you take control of 50 blue (and loveable) ‘Swarmites’ in a non-stop battle against devilishly tricky obstacles and suicidal leaps of faith. The trailer shown at this year’s PAX perhaps shows what the title has best to offer, a hilarious montage of all that incapacitate the Swarm, with varying degrees of effectiveness. It’ll be up to you to make sure at least one of the crafty little beggars makes it to the end of the explosive levels that lay in wait to collect valuable DNA. What purpose this will likely haul is unknown at this point, although the sheer insanity gives us huge hope for the game.

I wonder if it will exhibit any sort of swarm intelligence or collective consciousness….or will it just be about how many different ways the developers can kill off the cute little buggers?
Cuteness and violence have tripped up a couple of title in the past…Naughty Bear?

Hope if come out ok thought, looks like a fairly original theme.
