505 Games Announce Deep Black

July 9th, 2010 by

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but 505 Games have just announced their “action shooter in an underwater setting”. Raising immediate comparisons to 2K Games’ Bioshock is no bad thing, however, and here’s hoping that this third person shooter – developed by Russian developer Biart Studio LLC and titled Deep Black – can live up to its promises of delivering an immersive storyline and “complex science fiction mystery”.

We’ll have to wait and see whether the developer can offer something similar (or indeed radically different) to the experiences and hugely detailed back story of Rapture City in 2K Games’ masterpiece until the game launches in ‘Q1 2011′ for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Boasting realistic water physics, as well as richly designed underwater weapons, Biart certainly have their work cut out, although the screen shots that have been released thus far look inspired and insanely beautiful, with the rich blues of the ocean juxtaposing neatly with the flash of guns. We’re keeping an eye out for this one.

Deep Black will be released onto the Xbox 360 and PS3 early 2011.

How odd that a Russian made game isn’t coming to the PC. I wonder who is funding this as they obviously aren’t that bothered about the home or east european market.

I don’t think it’ll be a Bioshock beater, but it does look good.

Looks like its taken some ideas from dead space as well, correct me if im wrong but doesnt that look like a health bar down the characters back?
Does look very nice though and theres nothing wrong with mimicing other games, especially if those games are the calibre of bioshock and dead space. However by taking this apprach i have to agree with Az, it does look nice but if its already gettijng compared to bioshock, if this game doesnt live up to it then its going to find itself in the bargain bin pretty quickly.

  4. Well spotted, I’m looking forward to it for the comparisons. If it weren’t too similar to something as fantastic as Bioshock, I’d probably not have the same enthusiasm at least. In that regards, it’s a good thing.
