Yakuza fans rejoice! Yakuza 4 is finally set for release in the West with Sega today announcing that the hugely popular series’ fourth instalment is indeed pencilled in for a Spring 2011 release. Arriving again a whole year after the release in Japan, the new game will allow players to play as three new characters, in addition to Kiryu- each with “their own engaging backstory and a gripping interwoven plot”. New, non-playable characters will also play a key part in the plot, along with returning characters from the previous games.
The screen shots released with the announcement demonstrate the variety found in Yakuza‘s underworld cast of playable characters. Featuring unique fighting styles and abilities, the new characters could well be another hugely progressive step in the right direction for the series and should offer intriguing game play mechanics.
Sega are also offering you the chance to submit questions to legendary producer of the Yakuza seires, Toshihiro Nagoshi on the Sega blog. So if you have something eager to ask, whether you’d like to ask where the inspiration for the game came from or any plans for the future, write your question on the blog and you never know, Nagoshi might just personally answer your query.
