Valve and Sony have been proud to announce the inclusion of Steamworks into the Playstation 3 release of their sequel to one of the most loved games of 2007, having topped many ‘Game of the Year’ lists within industry circles, Portal 2. Steamworks is set to integrate game features, services such as auto updates, community features, and more. Sony’s PS3 is the only console to include the support, which has previously been launched onto PC and MAC, and will deliver gamers with a higher level of quality service than we have currently been able to enjoy on the home consoles.
Rob Dyer of Sony Computer Entertainment America, acknowledges “Valve is one of the industry’s leading studios and Portal is one of the most innovative properties launched in past years, Valve’s decision to bring Portal 2 to the PS3 with Steamworks support is incredible validation of the power and openness and momentum of Playstation 3”.
Portal 2 continues to expand on the unique and innovative experience at the heart of the first game, that was included in The Orange Box package of games. Multiplayer co-op modes are also included.
Portal 2 is expected to launch in 2011 for Xbox 360, PC, MAC and PS3.
