New “mutation” for Left 4 Dead 2

May 29th, 2010 by

In a leap from the multiplayer madness at the core of most gamers’ experience with the game, Valve have this week announced a new “mutation” for the ever popular Left 4 Dead 2, focusing on the solitary, single player experience in “Last Man Standing”.

Removing the co-op experience in favour of the lone wolf approach is the idea behind the mutation, in which the single player is pitted (without buddies or bots), against waves of the Special Infected. Surviving to the bitter end is the name of the game as always, with players encouraged by the team at Valve to submit their best 60-second clip of their struggle within the mutation to Youtube to let others revel in their misfortune. The single player game has always struggled within the game as a whole, so a whole new mode that lies on its shoulders is a fantastic idea from the guys at Valve. It again shows the commitment the team possess for their craft and the love they have for the community- may others follow in their wake.

All mutations are available to owners of “The Passing” DLC on Xbox 360 and PC, with a brand new mutation made available each week.

And this is why we love the game so much round these parts.
Valve keep coming up with new ways to mix this up.
