To coincide with the release of the aforementioned game (out today), well-respected independent clothing store Chateau Roux in Carnaby Street, London has been entirely re-modelled and re-branded as Santa Destroy’s very own clothes emporium ‘Airport 51′ from the game. Fashionistas and gamers alike will be greeted by a life-size model of the game’s central character, Travis Touchdown, upon walking into the store, with clothes endorsed by ‘king of cool’ game designer Suda 51 also lining the shelves. As the creative director of Chataeu Roux explains, “we’re delighted to be working with Rising Star Games on this innovative retail experience. No More Heroes 2 has a sense of style that is unrivalled”.
It signals an increasing acceptance of video games within the mainstream, and can only be a good thing. Besides, it isn’t everyday you walk down the street and come across the store you shop at in your virtual existence.
Airport 51 will be open for business from the 28th May to the 4th June to celebrate the launch.
