Ep 98: Wave 'em up

Hi everyone.

My name's J, I'm a 39 yo who started with an addiction to fighter pilot on the spectrum, after watching my grandad playing it on his. I've been playing ever since, in phases, and at the moment I'm mostly using the PS3, with a 3DS for when I have spare time away from home.

Not much time for games, with work & a young family, but I am trying to indoctrinate my daughter into games, and she has her first hardware, her own 3DS, so hopefully I can build on that.

I mostly go for driving, flying or shooting games, but I'll try anything. More of a single player, or an anonymous multiplayer, I don't take my games at all seriously – I know I'm not great at them, but I concentrate on fun rather than stats.

Beverage & biscuit: Day, strong black coffee, with something like a digestive possibly with chocolate. Night, Leffe, either colour's good, no biscuit – toast with butter & jam is the perfect late night snack.

Welcome aboard J, I never owned a Spectrum but always loved the feel of those rubber keys when I played around on shop demos.

The first flying game I got hooked on was the US Gold title Solo Flight for the Atari 400, that was an early flight sim. It involved delivering mail bags from one airport to another.

If you are looking for multiplayer action I suggest you check out Multiplayer Meet Ups on this forum and follow the community managers on twitter. My PSN bulletman888 Have a fragging good time smile

Thanks, bit of a manic week so far, hence my late reply. I'll check those out this weekend. So far this week I've been single player on Spec Ops the line, quite into that at the moment.

I never had an Atari so don't know Solo flight. I remember another spectrum game where there were people walking across the horizon and you had to shoot some (but not others) resulting in a nice splatter. Don't remember the name though. I was playing Birds of Steel earlier this year but then got a GTA IV & Saints Row III thing going.

Speccy? Pfffft, I was an Amstrad CPC 464 man myself. Lol

Spec Ops The Line is something very special. I need to get back on that.

Atari, Amstrad? I've led a sheltered life.

Next Gen, I've not really been paying attention as I'm not going to pick one up just yet – would lean toward ps4 from what I've seen – generally Sony exclusives look pretty good – but will look more closely when I'm planning to buy. At the moment, heavy hints are being dropped for a christmas vita – have ps+ so I've already got a few games ready to go. My 3ds needs some love too, but I'm just struggling to find anything that stands out for me right now. Mario Kart always wins, but getting it back from girl isn't easy…
