Pity I wasn't around last year, I would have been up for this. Here is hoping you do another one soon.

Personally I won't be doing a round two, however that's not saying others won't. You could do as Justin has done and started his own challenge, following similar rules but running from New Year to New Year.

For us muppets that started at the end of Eurogamer last year, I feel I speak for us all saying we're counting down the hours until the 26th September smile

Well fair play to you all. Im the same I've got a pile of shame at home starting with GTA IV.

I double dipped on GTA IV, but never got any further than about 4/5 missions in. I didn't really like the main character, and the cars felt a little too spongy for my liking, however if those things don't bother you, I'm sure you have many many enjoyable hours to be had smile

Haven't done an update for a while.  I'm now 8mths in and still sticking with it.  The hardest part has been missing out on some of the humble bundles.  I have picked up a couple of games using my existing credits on XBLA and PSN and have won a few games…but it is all within the limits I set out originally.  PS+ has been a massive lifeline so far.

Wondering how people feel about selling steam trading cards to fund new purchases on steam. I haven't done it yet but I would consider it allowable.  What does everyone else think?

re the Steam Trading Cards, I think that all depends on how strict you're being with yourself. I know others have used trade in/sold on fleabay cash to buy games.

Fair play 8 months and still going. I'm going to start my own Year of Shame starting 1st September. It has to be done. I've got way to many games just crying out to be played. Yet I can't help it when I see a bargain.

Well…I'll still be doing my YOS for a while yet if you want some support. (I'm @justin_knowles on twitter) Also I believe @Onyersix from the Last Save Loaded podcast is planning to start his YOS at the start of Sept or Oct.

I was looking through my games to see what I could trade in and it's forced me into a year of shame. Ps4 preorder has been cancelled this evening (thanks to those who replied to my thread) here's what I've got to look forward to
Unopened/ unplayed -saints row 4, assassins creed revelations & brotherhood, kill zone 3 (bought for camo controller) rayman origins (disk missing but believed to be posted through the floorboards by my son)
Played less than 1 hr – skyrim, dead space 3, last of us, demon souls, 2 x COD campaigns, zombi u, lots of ps+ titles

There's a lot of shooting and stealthiness two things I hate in a game but I guess by next year I'll be a pro

LOL! In all seriousness, all the best with the challenge. Hopefully you'll make it through the year, and if you do, you'll be a better person for it (or less likely to get into the same situation again).

I'm currently less than 36 hours away from coming to the end of my challenge, and it's honestly been life changing. Hopefully I'll stay the same once I'm allowed to buy again smile

Is this cheating on the YOS challenge or fair rule bending?

amazon sell me Rayman Legends wii u for £20.99, I play it for the weekend and then take it into to CEX on my way to work next week and get either £21 cash or £24 voucher

It's like being paid a penny to rent the game

So it’s over a year since we killed this challenge. I was wondering how everyone has fared over the past year.

I’m still falling into some of the old traps. PS4 limited release schedule, so I bought any old crap that came along, fell for the hype on some AAA, only to give up on them.

PSN+ is still a great little service must try and locate the Xbox to see what I’m missing out on.

I can remember making the rash statement that why would I buy GTA 5 on PS3 when I can just wait until it eventually and inevitably comes out on PS4.

Hence why I have GTA 5 on PS3 and PS4, Skyrim in all formats, why I don’t know (Oh and the PC version I have is broken, I thought the PS3 version was bad).

So how did everyone else fare?

I FAILED MISERABLY. If you want to know how bad lets just say I ended up with more games than before I started the YOS 2 challenge. Hence I'm doing it again in 2015.

I've taken up the pile of shame challenge, almost about to finish Final Fantasy IX after attempting to do so over the last two years.

So I've made a post, Maya must of crashed.
