Call of Duty Ghosts (Xbox 360).

For all the macho bullshit, bravado and patriotism abound, I thoroughly
enjoyed this trip.

Plenty of running and gunning in beautifully realised environments covering
a broad spectrum of shooty shooty bang bang.

(Oh, and I didn’t have to switch down to easy, which I thought was pretty
good for me!)

No sure I’ll venture onto the multiplayer – maybe a slice of local split
screen – the ‘alien’ invasion game modes look tempting.

Batman Arkham Asylum 9/10, can see why people tend to rate it higher than city and would have to agree though I do like City as well.

Tearaway another 9/10 yawn  very clever use of the vita as the reviews have all tended to mention but the game is fun as well smile.

I have competed Wolfenstein: The New Order on PC.

I am having a 2nd play through at the moment to go through the 2nd timeline.  I really enjoyed it but having played both 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein' and 'Wolfenstein' which I both loved, I would say this is my least favourite of the series.  I can't quite put my finger on it but something was certainly missing compared to the other games.  Could have done with a few more side missions and more open levels to explore.

Beyond : Two Souls. Well to be honest I have completed it 11 times, though that pretty much involved 3 full play throughs. First time played it through with no help, then when I knew the story I went back to Hoover up the platinum.

I enjoyed Heavy Rain and I expected this to be the same, however in many ways it didn't quite hit me as much. The problem with going back to Hoover up trophies is you eventually realise that you actually have little control over the game, at some times I sort of walked away made a cheese sandwich had a cup of tea and even though I was in control, Jodie still wasn't dead.

The first time you play though, there is an adrenalin buzz and you do feel that you are controlling the game. In some ways it's more like the old 'choose your own adventure ' books – does Jodie do X or Y, therefore if X then A, if Y then B. Unfortunately when you go through you find out that both X and Y ultimately lead to A. The story though is quite thought provoking, but to say there is much original thought in it would be untrue, there are the usual tropes, and some of the things you do as Aidan were done before (and much better) on the Xbox in Second Sight. The CIA action sequences are padding, though the QTEs are slightly better implemented than in Heavy Rain.

Overall 3/5.

Completed Elite Sniper 3.

It’s a bit glitch in parts; never get tired of the X-Ray affect. Never get tied of shooting Nazi’s. Starting my second run through now.

Put Watch Dogs just could n’t get in to it

WatchDogs on PS4

After the first one/two acts the game really picks up and i felt myself actually wanting to carry on with it and follow the story, not ground breaking by any means but enjoyed the end result. i will also go back and finish off some of the side mission bits and pieces

Far Cry Blood Dragon.

Great romp and 80s nostalga fuelled neon shooting fest. Wafer thin story with its tongue firmly planted in its cyborg cheek.

I really enjoyed Far Cry 3 and on reflection, maybe this was a bit of an overdose. Terribly dark throughout, but punctuated with a vibrant dayglow pallet, its an assault on the retinas!

Loads of exploring left to do, but there's not enough to draw me back to it….but it will forever sit on my hard drive.

Sleeping Dogs & all DLC – Platinum.

Well that took a while – but I grew to love the game. I see Batman influences, (the combat system), obviously GTA and it also reminded me a bit of Shenmue. It's being re-released prior to the follow-up (Triad wars) later this year.

It is very violent, and the story is pretty much telegraphed throughout, but a great fun game. A solid 7/10.

Now working through Far Cry 3 – so far a good game to play, but I'm too busy finding things to complete the story.

Child of Light Xbox 360

Good:

Stunning visuals

Ubi Art Engine art style

Clever combat system

Audio

Bad:

Story was rather too arty and abstract for my liking

Stupid rhyming text, that really struggled to rhyme at times or read badly to make it rhyme.

No health bars for enemies

Bland spell animations in combat

Overall an enjoyable jaunt, would give it 6/10

I've just completed Far Cry 3 to platinum. However this game is unusual because to platinum it, you don't have to complete every side quest and collect every collectible.

I played it on easy, and the story was good and the environment was massive to explore. I like the RPG elements as you level up, the game reminded me of Just Cause in many ways – probably due to the environment.

I actually played the co-op multiplayer – but this really let me down. There is no co-op chapter select so it becomes a bit of a lottery as to whether you get into the chapter you require.

Overall – a good blast, worth a solid 7. Single player campaign is an 8 let down with poor multiplayer co-op.

What next??

Alone in the dark inferno – has been on the pile of shame for years. Should have stayed there – easy platinum though!!

That's 10 hours of my life I'll never get back. To think GTA V is sitting there!!

Update – TrevDxB has forced me to install GTA V – so it's now off the pile of shame – see you online!!

Wolfenstein the new order on ps4. Thoroughly enjoyed it, quite enjoyed the story. And the cutscenes were awesome really gruesome but awesome nonetheless. I won't be doing a second playthrough but it's definitely worth a look. Two thumbs up!

Hmm was going to pick up murdered when cheap enough as it looked amusing smile

Finished Brothers  great game though depressing 9/10.

Hitman absolution great game really loved it, not played a hitman game before so will be playing my untouched copy of blood money on ps2 soon 9/10.

Assassins creed 2, took a while but worth it 8/10 because I prefer the fighting in brotherhood and kept jumping backwards of things so many times I almost gave up ( does not seem to happen so often in brotherhood and revelations).

Well I have sort of caught up with everyone else. I have just completed tomb raider definitive edition to 100%. I really enjoyed it – very much a Batman / metroidvania vibe, hints of Far Cry 3. 2 small crashes, but generally very stable.

I am about to disappear with no access to online gaming, so platinum is a no-no.

I really wish there was an option to disable multiplayer trophies and go elsewhere for the Platinum, if you work away it means a load of games will never get the platinum treatment.

Taking my PS3 away and a shed load of games to keep me occupied when off duty.

Cheers

Otto

I most recently completed Hack N Slash on PC.
It was fun, but really brain-bending at times. It's basically a Zelda style adventure with the expected Double Fine sense of humour, writing, and cute artwork, but you can 'hack' enemies and objects in the world and change all kind of values.

You start off being able to just hack with your sword and change things from a list of variables, like making a creature non-agressive for example. Later you get tools that allow you to hack yourself, or jump into the code of objects and change the logic that controls them.

The logic stuff can be really confusing to start, and I think the game could do better at helping you understand this stuff, or even just what to do next. But, it's really satisfying to mess around with this stuff and I enjoyed making my way through it.

I finished Costume Quest on PC last week.

First off: it's more Costume Quest, so if you played the first one, you know what you're in for. It appears to carry on from immediately after the first one.

The combat is still basically the same, but Double Fine have added some simple timing elements to attacks and blocks, hitting the button at the right time will increase the amount of damage you do, or reduce the damage you take. There's also a counter system, but it's quite specific and I think I only used it twice.

Costumes now have strengths and weaknesses against different enemy types (I think there are 3 types). I don't think there's any transformation as good as the Unicorn from the first game, but I liked the Clown and Hotdog costumes. The Candy Corn costume is back, and I like the jokes they make with it.

The Battle Stamps from the previous game are gone and have been replaced with cards. Instead of equipping each character with one stamp that has an effect of some kind, you have 3 cards in your hand which you choose to use during a character's turn instead of attacking or using your special. Once used, it can't be used again for a couple of fights so it pays to switch up what's in your hand between fights.

I enjoyed it, even though the structure is pretty much the same as the last game. It's cute, relaxing and unchallenging, much like the first game was.

Finished another double fine game Brutal Legend 9/10. Not a great fan of the music but still loved it a real awesome mad mix of a game.

Also finished Halo Reach 9/10. Best Halo even without MC.

Also played Destiny on ps3 one hell of a lot since I got it 2 weeks ago, really impressive on the ps3 and sooo damn addictive 9/10. Not sure how long I'll be playing it compared to other mmo games but definitely been well worth the purchase.

May as well also put Titanfall as I'm certainly finished with it 7/10. Smooth and works well but very limited content and gets very dull quite quick. A pity as when you start with the lock on on pistol you think there might be something new and interesting here until you realise that the pistol was the high point of originality in the weapons with the rest being the same old machine gun pistols shotgun and snipers (in a game set in the future with titans) . The Titans themselves are nowhere near as fun as the on foot game play.

Funnily I did about average even getting mvp and being in the top three quite often which was surprising as I'm pretty bad at twitch games these days smile.

Borderlands 2 (PC)

Took me 80+ hours over several months, but I finally got through to the end. I really enjoyed the world and it's cast of chancers, oddballs and lunatics. There were some genuinely funny moments along the way.

It has some great music, and looks absolutely gorgeous on PC. I started all over again on the harder True Vault Hunter mode almost immediately, and I've still got the DLC to play with.

Really enjoyed another outing as the caped crusader!

I am not a completionist so the thought of trying to 100% it can do one, but the story was good enough to hold my attention.
