I've just completed Tomb Raider.

Wonderfully crafted game. I was constantly thinking about how much effort Crystal Dynamics must have put into the game. It was pretty much rock solid all the way through – yes there were a couple of moments where Lara would fall to her rag doll death through no fault of mine – but visually wonderful with some great audio (nice inserts of the original Tomb Raider melody too).

Had a dabble with multiplayer with some of the midlife gamer community which was good fun.

I think I'd like to play through it again. Lara makes a good gaming buddy…and let's face it, she's easy on the eye.

bravo Crystal Dynamics. You've refreshed the franchise.

I've just completed Sleeping Dogs (again)

I love this game, played it through on Onlive, and again on xbox, just mopping up left-over achievements before starting to work through the DLC.  Not sure why exactly but this is the most enjoyable game I've played in years.

I've just completed the entire Mass Effect Trilogy …. again , this time with all the DLC. Despite it taking almost 3 weeks I've enjoyed it immensely and this time I took far more time to soak up the lore and universe and felt it was a better experience for it. While the ending is still not great if you simply class the end of the Citadel DLC as the real ending it becomes far better. Still a great trilogy that deserves its reputation.

I've just completed (well over the weekend) Starcraft 2 wings of liberty the campaign, really enjoyed it. Lots of varied missions, split up with visits back to your ship where you can upgrade, get more of the story or even have a tweak on an arcade machine. Great game well worth picking up. There is a lot of nods to sci-fi stuff, Schwarzenegger in a Thor "click on me" to the pilot from Aliens "In the pipe 5*5".

Tempted to pick up Heart of the Swarm.

I've just completed Assassins creed 2 – all trophies. Following on from Assassins creed 1 – which I completed on Xbox and PS3 (no trophies – bastards). Now looking at brotherhood on my pile of shame, oh and I'm downloading a bit of DLC for AC2 ( as apparently I'm only 97% completed). so a huge improvement on 1 – and if you're an OCD collector freak – write off 3 days of your life.

I just completed … The Walking Dead (TellTail Games Episodic one, not the new one that’s getting awful reviews).

Yes i am late to the party on this. I did get through to the second episode at its time of release but other AAA titles pulled me away. I did continue to download the episodes as they were released in hope of returning to them and playing them back to back. And i'm really glad i did.

An emotional ride through the zombie infested streets and back roads of America. (Seemingly) difficult choices to make and a small child to look after and guide. Not an easy task when it’s not the apocalypse never mind when your knee deep in bandits, cannibals and the undead.

It’s a great game worth every penny. Unsure if I will play it through again, but I’m sure glad I didn’t forget about it completely.

Tomb Raider, AC3 and MGRising, GOWJ

But the sticker here was Dead Space 2 – yes its taken me this long to complete it – its been on my todo list forever, sitting there with Darkness 2 and Nier and Bayonetta. Done at last now for no 3 which I like alot better, not a real horror game fan you see…

I have just finished Uncharted 3 i have really enjoyed it. There were a few battles which i struggled a bit through. Mainly because I'm rubbish at shooting especially when the bad guys have RPG's or grenade launchers. There are some fantastic set pieces and the dialog was great

Bioshock after starting it the xmas after it came out embarassed (great ending, great game).

Dragons Dogma which I loved, far better game than I thought it was going to be.

Mass Effect 3

I have to say, this trilogy has been the most enjoyable and rewarding gaming journey I have taken. I got off to a bad start, having only put about 10 hours into ME1 before i packed it in as I couldn't deal with the elevator loading screens and the planet searching in the Hammerhead. I do regret this, but it did give me enough of the story to be able to pick up ME2 after hearing how all the bits I hated were gone.

Oddly, I even enjoyed the planet scanning even though it was very time consuming and mundane. But it was the story that gripped me and drove me to spending 51 hours on this game, which equates to about 10 weeks worth of gaming time for me. I did every quest, side quest and loyalty mission and got through the suicide mission with 0 casualties on my first attempt. This is still my proudest achievement in gaming.

Then I was LTTP with ME3 as MP was of no interest (although I had a dabble and enjoyed it). I put even more into this at 53 hours and enjoyed every last second. I got to really see what the galaxy was about past and present, enjoy some epic set pieces, and I even got to f**k Jessica Chobot!!!

A brilliant, brilliant series with a reasonable ending (obviously the Extended Cut – not sure what was added that wasn't in the original, but I can hazard a guess!). I actually chose the wrong option by accident as I thought I would get an 'are you sure' prompt so i went straight back and chose the option i originally wanted. i actually think my first choice was better, so may go back and replay again if there is ever an ME4 that uses my save data.

I give the trilogy a resounding 9.5 out of 10 and say to anyone who hasn't yet… PLAY IT!

I've just completed Matt Hazard Eat Lead!
Yeah it's showing its age and the production values are low key with sparse environments, but what a bunch of fun.
There were times I thought to myself I could be playing something else, but at least I can be one of those that can claim to have played it! wink

It's tongue is firmly planted in its cheek as it makes constant references to games of the past and recent titles.
There are also some great achievements in it too…for doing nothing more than putting the disc in! You get 60G just for watching the end credits all the way through!

Oh, and tempted though I was to drop it down to EASY, I pushed on through on medium. No intention of doing it on hard.

An enjoyable 'romp'.

…Gears of War.

That’s right. The first Gears of War. Greg Giddens and i decided a few weeks back that we would play through all the Gears of war games in order, in coop, on Hardcore setting.

I joined this community when Gears and Beers on a Friday night was a Gear of War 2 event, and because of that i never really had the change/thinking to go back and play the original. But i am glad i did. Not only was it great fun and a laugh with my good friend Greg but it was good to be dropped into the story of Gears from its beginning (in the main franchise by any accounts).

Buggy to fuck in places!!! Jesus H Corbett! There is one level when the Krill (?) are pestering you and you have to stay in the light. And at one point you have to push a burning car down a street and stay as close as possible. Bugged out so that the car wouldn't move and there was no way of running to safety!?! It took us about 94 attemps to do, but in the end it worked.

Also quite strange that it missed a huge chunk of levels out at the end. One minute your looking for a way to a town, then next you on a train takiing a bomb to the badguys danglerly bits!

Regardless, it was a great run through. And i am looking forward to getting into Gear2 coop this weekend.

Borderlands 2. Lovely. I don't have much experience with RPGs, so this RPG/sandbox/FPS was a really novel experience for me. I played through as the commando, which I found entirely congenial; the turret gives you a wealth of tactical options (you can set it to guard your flank or rear; you can use it to keep the enemies' heads down while you pull a flanking move; you can chuck it into their midst and then charge in behind it etc. etc.) Perhaps best of all, it was a satisfying game. Having finished it, I'm quite happy to move on, whilst at the same time there's every chance I'll play through again as a different class, or have a go at one of the D L C mission packs.

Last of Us – another great game, very moving in places and again you feel yourself becoming very attached to the character, naughty dog really have made a stunner

Two games for me this week!

First up, after starting it in October 2012, my coop couch buddy and I finally watched the end credits roll of Borderlands 2!
We meet up most Thursday nights for a couple of hours and have been pretty much playing it every week (couple of breaks for other games, holidays etc). We've completed most of the side missions apart from some of the timed ones…which we're shit at!

The hook with the game has to be the guns. Some simply amazing weapon combinations have popped up…and of course, what's not to like about number popping out of people's heads as you plough into them with your corrosive sniper rifle!?
Really enjoyable title and I can see why people go back to it.

Secondly, Bioshock Infinite.
Superb. I might need to post up about this in a separate forum to discuss with others, but it beat my expectations by some way, only having seen some of the trailers. Graphically it's glorious, with some jaw dropping moments…not just the quality of the graphics but the scenery and the framing of it all at key points. Proud to say I managed to complete it on medium and managed not to drop it to easy towards the end (thanks to Baron Vin Pleb for giving me a few spoiler free pointers!).

Both wonderful titles…up next for me is Batman Arkham City (which I can play in 3D!) and the final half of Hitman Absolution.

As for my next couch coop game…I'll post up another thread for suggestions.
