Hi chaps,

I just took the plunge and bought a 3ds XL from Amazon.  Came with Mario Kart 7 and New Super Mario Bros 2 for £169.  Bargain if you ask me!

Anyway what the top game recommendations would be.  Need to get Lego Batman for the boy, but any other must-haves?

Also I'd like to get a case or cover, any feedback on good or bad experiences of them?

Looking forward to Street Passing the shit out of you all at Eurogamer!awesome

You can't go wrong following  this list

Mario 3D world, Luigi's Mansion2, Monster Hunter, Zelda OOT, Animal Crossing have all been essential (alsong with MK7 which you have)

I'm going to grab Fire Emblem next.

Thanks, I'm definitely going to pick up Mario land 3d or whatever its called, and I'll see where I go from there.

I remember PilotWings fondly from my n64 days so I'll give it a look too.

Cheers.

If you are getting Monster Hunter try picking up the Circle pad pro you can pick it up on Amazon. I would also recommend Mario and Luigi Dream Team it's brilliant.

I thought that only supported like 2 games.  Wasn't intending on Monster Hunter, not sure its my cup of tea.  I might try and get the loan of it and see what its like.

I loved Mario and Luigi on the DS – Partners in Time and Bowser's inside were fantastic, so I'll definitely give dream team a look.

Good to know, thanks.  I see there is a '2ds' getting released, I wonder will they make the circlepad pro for that too?

Been happily playing Mario Kart 7 and Mario 3d land for now.

Hi John,

Having never played fire emblem before. What type of game is it? Is it similar to Final Fantasy or more of a dungeon crawler like Diablo? Do you have to play previous games to get the story?

Yes, Fire emblem is great gets my vote too.

Its a turn based strategy game like Dungeons and dragons, war hammer (Board games), hunters, final liberation, xcom:enemy unknown, advanced wars, Lazer squad, combat sections of Hero's of might and magic. (sorry was enjoying myself thinking of games).

I didn't even know there was a previous game. Story seems ok suffers from the same old "I have no memory" sigh.
