Next we were introduced to the celebrity host, Aisha Tyler and her support host, Toby Turner, before Far Cry 3 footage and a gameplay demo were shared. It showed a far more confident and capable protagonist, taking charge and attacking antagonist Vass and his crew and base. The Jungle setting and brutal combat is reminiscent of the original Far cry. Interestingly a major thread of the narrative was revealed right at the end. We won’t spoil it here but it certainly adds an extra layer of intrigue to your character. Check out the E3 trailer below.
Next the Splinter Cell Blacklist trailer was shown and it was confirmed that competitive multiplayer mode, spy vs mercs, is back and that the narrative will follow the Third Echelon begin forced to go rouge and becoming Fourth Echelon. Check out the E3 trailer below.
We then got to see a CG trailer for Marvels Avengers: Battle for Earth, showing Wolverine, Spider man, storm, Magneto, Venom, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Black Widow and Thor as the Chitauri attack.
Rayman Legends was next, shown running on the Wii U with touch and tilt screen controls on the game pad for controlling Rayman and his flying friend, Murphy. Legends is looking to continue the fast paced platforming and hand drawn aesthetic of Origins, and it looks ace.
Next was a CG trailer for Wii U title, Zombi U, a very similar trailer to last year’s Dead Island trailer. No game footage was on show but it’s clear that the Wii U will offer more than just casual, family friendly experinces.
A quick trailer running through a few Wii U titles then flashed up, showing: Rabbids Land, Your Shape Fitness and Sports Connection. The came Assassin’s Creed III.
Assassin’s Creed III began with a CG trailer – which you can see below – before a demo of the gameplay was demonstrated. Using the bow to kill a stag and fending off wolves suggested Connor will have to deal with wild animals. Meanwhilefluid tree climbing showed the same open free-roam the series is known for but surrounded by nature. Combat was fluid and brutal but enemies still looked to form an orderly queue to attack. A lot of variety was shown in the locations due to the narrative spaning 30 years.
Next a demonstration of Shootmania – a fast paced Unreal Tournament-esque shooter – was shown with a 3 vs 3 competition held on stage. Very little was shown but the Beta is available now and when it’s released later this year on PC, it’ll be free to play.
Finally a brand new IP was announced, Watch Dogs, and it looks mighty interesting and different. In the near future digital identities are precious things to corporations. The data can be used to manipulate people’s buying habits and world views. Cities infrastructure has also advanced with technology and everything from traffic lights to utilities is controlled by a single computer per city. You play a hacker in an apparent open-world city and can manipulate electronic devices, locks, traffic lights, phones, cameras and more in this contemporary, cyberpunk thriller. Incidentally the visuals were amazing for such a huge scale game. This could be special, check out the footage below.
And that was it from Ubisoft. Some very strong stream of titles coming from them this year and next.
