The Midlife Gamer Community End of Year Awards

The votes have been counted and verified, and the results are in. After Greg’s fantastic GOTY feature Over the last few weeks the Midlife Gamer community have been nominating and voting for their deserving winners in a host of categories, either via the forums, Twitter or in secret PM’s and now the winners can finally be revealed, along with a few “alternative” awards submitted by the community for fun.

 

Best Music – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

And as a little bonus

Best Sound (non-music) – Dead Space 2

Best Indie & Best Arcade Title (2 awards) – Bastion

Best Male Character – Wheatley Portal 2, Stephen Merchant

Best Female Character – GLaDOS Portal 2, Ellen McLain

Best Remake – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time  3DS

Best Online – Gears of War 3

Game most relatable to sadomasochism - Dark Soul.

 Really? that’s your real voice award – Adam Jensen in Deus Ex Human revolutions

Bro-mance of the year – Marcus & Dom (Gears of War 3)

Most Expensive Map pack – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Most “Is that the fat cop from heroes?” award – L.A Noire

 Coolest voice of any man ever ! award -Logan Cunningham as the narrator in Bastion

Worst use of “Mockney” accents – The Orc’s, WarHammer 40K: Space Marine

I fooled you by the trailer award- Dead Island

Award for most enterprising use of a sextoy – Saints Row the Third

Award for ‘Will you stand over there please?  If you don’t we can’t continue the story, thank you’ – Battlefield 3 Single Player Campaign

And the Award for sexy (and slightly disturbing) table tennis goes to - Yakuza 4
